CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: 2026 AAC BC/Yukon Regional Dog Agility Championships!
Get ready, agility fans! The 2026 AAC BC/Yukon Regional Dog Agility Championships are coming, and we need your help to make this an unforgettable event for our canine athletes and their handlers. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the excitement, meet fellow dog lovers, and contribute to the success of a premier agility competition.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to fill a variety of roles from Thursday, before the event, through to Monday, after the event. No matter your experience level or availability, there’s a place for you on our team!
Here are some of the key roles that we need to fill
- Set Up (Thursday & Friday): Help us get everything ready for the big weekend! This involves setting up rings, equipment, and general event infrastructure.
- Scribe: If you have agility experience and a keen eye for detail, we need you to accurately record scores and faults. Experience is preferred for this role.
- Scribe Assistant: Support the scribe by helping manage paperwork and keep things organized.
- Timer: Crucial for accurate results, timers record the official run times. Experience is preferred.
- Gate Steward: Help manage the flow of competitors to the ring, ensuring everyone is in the right place at the right time. Experience is preferred.
- Ring Crew: Assist with moving equipment, setting jumps, and ensuring the course is ready for each dog.
- Leash Runner: A fast-paced role, helping handlers by getting leashes to them after their dog’s run.
- Score Runner: Help keep the competition running smoothly by delivering score sheets to the scoring table.
- Scorer: For those with a good understanding of agility scoring, help compile and verify results. Experience is preferred.
- Volunteer Support: A vital role helping to check in volunteers, answer questions, and ensure everyone has what they need.
- Security/Parking/Grounds Crew: Help direct traffic, manage parking, and keep the event grounds tidy and safe.
- Course Builder: Assist our course designers in setting up the challenging and exciting agility courses.
- Clean Up (Sunday afternoon & Monday): Help us pack up and leave the venue spotless after a successful weekend.
